The New England Patriots are pleased to announce its latest trade with the Tennessee Titans for the second overall pick of the 2016 IFL draft, Laquon Treadwell.
The deal has seen the franchise part with wide receiver, Josh Gordon moving in the other direction.
Commenting on the deal, general manager stated: “Josh Gordon is a fantastic player with top 5 upside, however we felt that Treadwell is a better option for the franchise for both this season and beyond.
“Gordon at the start of the year was in football wilderness but since his trade to New England his value has sky rocketed. We appreciated his work ethic in the pre season and the way he has applied himself in camp. New England and its fans wish him the best of luck in Tennessee.
“However, Treadwell is a player that we coveted in the draft but we wouldn’t not agree a deal to move up to the 1.02 to pick him. Treadwell is a player with great physical tools and has the size and strength we look for in our receivers.
“We understand that a 21 year old receiver like Treadwell will need time to develop and we are positive that he can learn from veterans Mike Evans and Donte Moncrief.”
New England are set to leave their off season training camp in London, UK tomorrow to prepare for their final pre season game.
