It’s free agency week and everyone is ripe with hope they can turn around their roster and become a contender in the coming months. Below is a breakdown of every AFC’s team needs, available salary and a little overview of what they may be looking to do in the upcoming weekend.

Baltimore Ravens – Matt

Team Needs: OFF, DE (if JPP moves to LB)

Available Salary: $20,309,732

Matt’s coming off a very disappointing season, but he’s been in an unfortunate situation after his ’16 campaign. Heading in 2019, if Matt is to compete, he must address his offense, which isn’t at playoff caliber. With only $20 mil to work with, it’s likely he works on some back-end starter types and attack another DE. Trades will likely be incoming to try and address his O.

Cincinnati Bengals – Danny

Team Needs: OFF, DE, LB

Available Salary: $22,972,984

Danny’s is looking at less than $10 million to work with after his draft funds are taken into account. With just AJ Green, Trey Burton and David Njoku as startable assets on offense, Danny is looking at one of the worst roster situations in the IFL. After 3 years of pitiful performances, it’s looking like another dreadful year. Josh Jacobs could be a foundational piece to build on heading into his future.

Cleveland Browns – Kyle

Team Needs: DE, OFF

Available Salary: $50,098,646

Kyle ended his 2018 campaign as the runner up in the AFC, and did it without any viable running backs. Heading into 2019, Kyle would do well to acquire one or two stud muffins at that position to compliment his already established offense. Defensive end is also a position to target to pair with stud muffin Aaron Donald. Kyle is in prime position to repeat as AFC North champion if everything stays the same in the North.

Pittsburgh Steelers – Spencer

Team Needs: OFF, DE, LB

Available Salary: $48,142,900

Spencer is looking at just over $20 million to work with after draft funds are taken out of the equation, so hitting on a starter or two is possible, particularly on defense. His IDP side of the ball is lacking a couple of playmakers at DE and LBer, so Spencer has an opportunity to acquire starters and attack his offense with his 4 1^st round picks. Out of every GM in the North, Spencer has the best opportunity to take a major step forward.

Buffalo Bills – Travis

Team Needs: QB, OFF, DT, LB, S

Available Salary: $76,027,232

After inexplicably tearing apart a playoff team, Travis now is staring at a multi-year rebuild. On the offensive side of the ball, Travis needs to attack some offensive free agents and could use 3 starters at linebacker. In a division with Brad and Mark, we may not see Travis as a competitor for some time.

Miami Dolphins – Brad

Team Needs: DE, S

Available Salary: $68,414,922

First and foremost, champion Brad will aggressively go after two-three defensive ends. After that, offensive depth and safety will be a priority, but Brad will likely target anywhere he can get value and trade his way into a championship contender again. With how rosters are constructed now, Brad is in an excellent position to go after ‘value’ in free agency, versus overspending on need.

New England Patriots – Mark

Team Needs: QB, DT, DE, LB, S

Available Salary: $91,493,454

Mark tore his defense to the bone the last couple months, and will try to find value in free agency. It’s a bold move, especially with how much money is out in the AFC. The entire defense needs filling and you bet your bottom dollar Brad will be tracking and likely bidding up Mark’s targets. Mark could also use some additional depth on offense, so I’m fascinated to see if he can build a complete team with his stud muffin starting 5.

New York Jets – Cory

Team Needs: OFF, DE, S

Available Salary: $16,211,136

With an ungodly amount of money invested in mediocre, barely startable assets, I’m really curious what strategy Cory is employing. With little to no money set to improve his roster, Cory is definitely heading into another horrendous year in one the IFL’s best divisions. If I was Cory, I would take a hard look at my strategy in this league, because the roster as its constructed is set for a big-time failure. A full tear down, followed by attempts at acquiring studs on offense should have taken place months ago.

Denver Broncos – David

Team Needs: OFF, DT, DE, LB, S

Available Salary: $107,843,692

Speaking of teardowns, David is setup for a multi-year rebuild as he traded his team into oblivion. With needs all across the roster, David may focus on attacking the best players on offense and try to grab value on the IDP side of the ball, where value can be more readily had. Can David shock the world and win the AFC West again? It’s possible, but not likely.

Kansas City Chiefs – Chittay

Team Needs: OFF, DT

Available Salary: $88,665,501

Curt is in an excellent place to position himself as the favorite in the AFC West. Curt’s team, particularly on defense is filled with stud muffins, so Curt can be VERY aggressive on targeting the best offensive studs free agency has to offer. With the 1.02 combined with a successful free agency, Curt can be a CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER. (Cue kiss of death music)

Oakland Raiders – Craig

Team Needs: OFF, DE, LB, S

Available Salary: $112,706,694

Craig is heading into his first real test as an IFL GM, and many eyes will be keeping tabs on how he does. Similar to David, offensive studs are a priority and with Craig’s knowledge of the IDP side of the ball will be tested. In attempting to acquire value against savvy GMs with lots of money like Mark, will Craig be able to showcase passable knowledge in his first year? With only Derrick Henry as a startable offensive asset, it will be interesting to see how Craig allocates his funds.

Los Angeles Chargers – Decker

Team Needs: DE

Available Salary: $30,462,408

Decker can roll into 2019 with his roster as is and be competitive. Decker could definitely use an upgrade at the defensive end position, however, as Derek Barnett and Vic Beasley won’t cut it as starters. With around $25 million to spend, that is certainly a possibility. One of the storylines to watch coming out of free agency is how Decker and Curt’s teams stack up. Both are positioned to take a major step forward in 2019.

Houston Texans – Dean

Team Needs: QB, OFF, LB, S

Available Salary: $68,874,967

After Dean suffered through a tough franchise and transition tag period, Dean still has some money to fill up some holes. Like so many GMs, Dean must address his needy offense if he is to be competitive in 2019. Chris Carson and Antonio Brown won’t cut as startable assets in a tough AFC. Dean’s defense is close to complete, with another startable LBer and S needed to fill a starting 11.

Indianapolis Colts – Erik

Team Needs: QB, DE, LB

Available Salary: $25,075,271

It will not be a busy free agent period for the former champion, as he has around $2 million in available salary after taking out draft funds. With quite a few holes to fill, I’m very curious if Erik budges on his notorious tight trade values in the upcoming months. After two very successful campaigns, Erik could be looking at taking a step back as both sides of the ball are showing cracks of decline.

Jacksonville Jaguars – Nate

Team Needs: DT, DE

Available Salary: $20,489,591

Nate is looking like a serious contender with a championship caliber offense on deck for 2019. The IDP side of the ball, particularly the defensive line will need to be addressed. #1 need is adding a defensive end to pair with Jonathan Allen.

Tennessee Titans – Jason

Team Needs: OFF, DT, S

Available Salary: $33,912,899

Another roster that is close to complete, Jason is heading into 2019 looking to replicate his 2017 success. With the main pieces and core set, Jason can work on adding offensive depth and some ancillary pieces on defense. If he can find some value, Jason will likely be returning to the postseason.

Chicago Bears – Nic

Team Needs: S

Available Salary: $53,642,808

It’s no secret Nic has one of the most complete rosters in the IFL. With really only safety remaining as a need, Nic will have his choice of players he would like to add. Likely to go after offensive depth, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in on the best offensive weapons in free agency to replace Tyreek Hill.

Detroit Lions – Nate

Team Needs:  DE, LB

Available Salary: $26,083,107

Nate was given a dumpster fire and he’s done a pretty damn good job turning it around in such a short period of time. His offense is ready to contend, while his defense needs a couple more impact players. Linebacker in particular is a necessity to upgrade if he’s to keep up with Nic. A wild card berth is very possible if he can get some help on defense.

Green Bay Packers – Barry

Team Needs – QB, RB, DE, LB, S

Available Salary: $71,977,717

Barry is looking at a rebuild and perhaps the worst roster he’s had since the league’s inception. Needs all over his roster and only around $60 million to spend, another one and done in the playoffs is likely Barry’s 2019 ceiling. Filling out his offense will likely be Barry’s priority number one, although he could make due with some back-end starters and taking a more balanced approach (a Barry trademark) with average starters across the board.

Minnesota Vikings – Wade

Team Needs: OFF, LB, S

Available Salary: $60,264,919

I’ll say this about Wade, he has worked his ass off to take that next step. Will he? Certainly up for debate, but he’s definitely in the mix to take over the #2 spot in the division. The Todd Gurley addition can’t be overstated, but he MUST stay healthy. Other than Gurley and Watkins, there isn’t much that excites the eye and Wade will likely aggressively attack the best offensive studs. (bidding war between Wade and Nic, perhaps?)

Dallas Cowboys – Brian

Team Needs: QB, OFF, DE, S

Available Salary: $74,051,897

I’m never one to throw peanuts at a strategy of a fellow IFL GM, but over almost anyone else in the league, I’m curious to see how Brian’s offseason goes. Similar to what Jason did after his 2017 championship run, Brian tore his roster to pieces, while acquiring 2019 1^st round picks to fill out his multiple holes across his roster. With about $50 mil to play with draft funds omitted, can Brian match his 2018 campaign? This will be a storyline to watch…

New York Giants – DJordan

Team Needs: QB, DT, DE, LB

Available Salary: $79,495,280

DJordan had a Cinderella-like season, sneaking into the playoffs and notched a huge win over Seattle Will. Feeling the heat of a $50 million Gurley, DJ decided to go another direction with his team in 2019, trading away the back-to-back #1 offensive player for multiple mid-to-back-end starters. With depth an annual concern for DJ, a more balanced approach in 2019 may be a good way to go. Filling out the defensive side of the ball in FA will likely be the strategy in FA.

Washington Redskins – Dan

Team Needs: QB, OFF, DT, DE, LB, S

Available Salary: $143,156,365

$143 million in cap and Dan has to fill almost every single spot. I can’t wait to watch and see how it goes. Dan can go in so many different directions with his strategy and should dominate the free agency period. Dan, if you don’t get the three-four best offensive players in free agency, you did it WRONG.

Philadelphia Eagles – Tiffany

Team Needs: OFF, DE

Available Salary: $44,097,591

Offense. Priority #1 must be grabbing studs to compliment Hopkins, Cooks and Freeman. Tiffany is close to contention, but with only $44 million, it will be tough to fillout a roster. Moving the Woodyard contract ahead of free agency may be a wise move, to create more space. Defensive end is also a huge hole and needs to be addressed.

Arizona Cardinals – Jai

Team Needs: Off, LB

Available Salary: $61,017,296

Now is the time for Jai to take a step forward. Aaron Jones, Alvin Kamara, Antonio Brown and George Kittle is a fantastic backbone to create a playoff roster. Can Jai finally put it together with a couple more offensive weapons and a linebacker or two? Time will tell…

Los Angeles Rams – Andrew

Team Needs: DE, LB

Available Salary: $28,750,235

Andy gets a lot of shit, but he has the makings of a playoff caliber team. The offense is ready to win now and with some maintenance on defense, Andy can finally eclipse Will in the West. Not ripe with resources, perhaps Andy plays on a tight budget, focusing on a half dozen sleepers versus a couple of studs.

San Francisco 49ers – Josh

Team Needs: QB, OFF, DE, LB, S

Available Salary: 104,455,833

Josh… I love ya, but shit you are in the middle of a multi-year rebuild. The strange direction you’ve taken has left your roster barren, and barring a ‘plan’ I don’t see that changing anytime soon. A true innovator, you’ll need to pull a rabbit out of your hat to transform a bottom three roster into a playoff contender with only $100 million in funds.

Seattle Seahawks – Will

Team Needs: OFF, DE

Available Salary: $59,812,623

Will has done a fantastic job rebuilding his roster quietly with excellent signings like Cory Littleton. With a bit more depth on offense and a defensive end or two, Will is the GM to beat in the NFC West again… you won’t fool me anymore. You’ve entered Alabama Crimson Tide and Golden State Warrior territory; I’ll bet on you until you stop winning.

Atlanta Falcons – Floyd

Team Needs: QB, OFF, DT, DE, LB, S

Available Salary: $69,191,063

It was heartbreaking to watch Flod build a playoff caliber team and end up just shy of the goal. Flod could of won the NFC if he just snuck in the playoffs… oh! And if Kareem Hunt wasn’t a massive cunt! Heading into free agency, Flod is needy across the board. I fear a big regression may be coming in Atlanta. A balanced approach to free agency may be best as there are many holes and not $143 milion to fill them. At least you have Barkley.

Carolina Panthers – Nils

Team Needs: S

Available Salary: $50,256,291

Fuck Nils. Like Nic, Nils has built one of the most complete rosters in the league, but he lacks starpower. With no truly elite offensive players available, I expect Nils to continue to attack value that presents itself on the board. By the end of next week, Nils will have depth on top of depth… at that point, the trading will begin.

New Orleans Saints – Carlos

Team Needs: OFF, DE, LB

Available Salary: $40,292,772

Coming off one of the quietest 12-4 in the history of this format, Carlos is still a couple of pieces away from being a serious contender in 2019. Carlos will absolutely pursue value on the board, not overspending on needs. Very interested to see how aggressive he may get with some of the offensive studs. Someone like Mark Ingram would look nice next to Julio Jones and Zach Ertz.
