2019 Pre-Season Projections: New England Patriots

Coach: Matt LaFleur 5 PPG

QB: Drew Brees 32 PPG

Drew Brees may be the best QB in the history of the NFL that hasn’t been an MVP. He must be perfectly fine with winning a Super Bowl in its stead and surely Dan Marino would agree. Brees is what you want at your quarterback position, consistent and reliable. He has a decade-plus rapport with his head coach and has multiple QB1 seasons on his resume. Yes, he’s 40-years-old and decline is imminent. (Payton Manning’s sharp decline is still a fresh memory) With the weapons Brees has at his disposal, he can age like Brady, who has become a dump-off warrior in New England. Brees can follow in his footsteps with elite slot weapon Michael Thomas and reception machine Alvin Kamara. He’s probably staying around a top 10 option with the Saints continuing to empathize the run.

2019 Pre-Season Projections: Miami Dolphins

Coach: Bill Belichick 6 PPG

QB: Patrick Mahomes 36 PPG

Patrick Mahomes was the most prolific player in the history of our league. A 50 touchdown, 5,000 yard season is just absurd and the Chiefs were an overtime coin toss away from a Super Bowl appearance. Mahomes was at the center of it all, leading their elite offense to record highs and an MVP for himself. Regression is going to happen, but Mahomes is still the overwhelming favorite to finish as the number one player in our scoring, especially with a full season with Tyreek Hill.

2019 Pre-Season Projections: Buffalo Bills

Coach: Mike Zimmer 6 PPG

QB: Kirk Cousins 28 PPG

Good ol’ Kirk keeps rolling along with his mediocre results and terrible play in big games. Everyone knows that Kirk can’t win big games and is like 4-30 (don’t know the exact record) against teams over .500. Kirk’s stats are slated to take a hit with the Vikings stating they are committing to the run game. A slight regression is likely, but he still is a mid-range QB1.

2019 Pre-Season Projections: Cleveland Browns

Coach: Frank Reich 6 PPG

QB: Jared Goff 30 PPG

Just two offseasons ago, everyone and their mother thought Jared Goff was a bust. Notorious for not knowing which direction the sun rises, Goff may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he doesn’t need to be with Sean McVay making the offense easy to understand. Goff’s 2019 season should mirror what he did in 2018, which is a fringe top 10 fantasy quarterback without an elite ceiling.

2019 Pre-Season Projections: Pittsburgh Steelers

Coach: Sean McDermott 3 PPG

QB: Carson Wentz 31 PPG

Poor Carson Wentz, he’s been through some drama. Under Nick Foles’ shadow, Wentz looks to put his mark on the 2019 Eagles team and finally make a playoff run of his own. With a strong group of receivers and an elite defense to boot, Wentz could put together another strong statistical season possibly an MVP case. A top 10 option at the position for fantasy, Wentz comes with top 3 upside with solid rushing chops as well.

2019 PRE-SEASON PROJECTIONS: Cincinnati Bengals

Back for another fantastic year in the IFL, is the pre-season previews of each GM’s shot at glory. How does your team shape up compared to everyone else in your division? Are you in line for the SBMOF or are you a legit championship contender? Honestly, these articles won’t tell you much of anything, but they’ll be fun to read, react to and reflect upon season’s end.

Please take note these projections are higher than our average PPGs. Injuries and bye-weeks are not factored in.

** = Potential position change. Would HIGHLY recommend emailing Gary Davenport to check on the players in question: kilroy1872@gmail.com

Coach: Pete Carroll 6 PPG

QB: Andrew Luck 36 PPG

What an amazing turnaround by Andrew Luck. After a devastating shoulder injury caused Luck to miss all of the 2017 season, he comes back to post his best statistical season to date. I don’t think it is emphasized enough, that Andrew Luck is one of the best quarterbacks of our generation. What he did to turn around a 1-5 squandering squad into winning a playoff game last year was nothing short of incredible. The sky is the limit for his 2019 season, as his floor is a top 5 fantasy quarterback and his receiving weapons are upgraded. With an elite offensive line and tight end group, we could be seeing historic numbers being dropped in Indianapolis. Behind Mahomes, he’s my favorite to finish as the #1 overall player in our format.

Coach: Matt Nagy 5 PPG

QB: Aaron Rodgers 34 PPG

Aaron Rodgers’ last few seasons feel wasted. If I was a Packer fan, I couldn’t imagine going through a decade-plus with who many regard as a top 5 all-time QB and only have one Super Bowl appearance. How much is Rodgers to blame? Was it perhaps the poor play selection by McCarthy? Have the constant nagging injuries taken a larger toll than we give them credit for? Either way, expectations to return to the postseason are there and Rodgers is expected to deliver an MVP caliber season. The talent is undeniable and I don’t question that he will be a top 5 option.
