Since the AFC FA Auction series is complete, we wanted to finish it off by a little Q&A. Hope you all enjoyed the articles!

Well Nils, we completed our first series article series together previewing the AFC’s FA auction. How do you feel?

It feels great. I’m happy to have been able to help provide the league with some talking points leading up the the auction.

I know you didn’t want to go too deep into listing a bunch of players, how do you feel about the 77 that you did list?

I feel good. I would be surprised if any of those players do not make it to a roster this year. There’s a ton of players I did not list that I could see being added to teams as well, but I didn’t want to list too many deep deep sleepers, these guys need to do some work on their own!

Are there any notable players who were left off that list?

The 3 biggest names I can see would be WR Brandon Marshall, RB Jamaal Charles and LB Paul Posluszny. I don’t see incredible upside in either of these players and just don’t see them helping many teams this year. Their name value will get them signed, but they will probably be overpaid.

Above is a quick overview of the offensive players and potential interested teams. Who stands out to you in this table?

Rex Burkhead of course! I have him in a bidding war with 5 different teams! Call it a crush, I don’t know, but I love his upside this year, and love the fact that he’s on a 1-year deal in NE even more. I think he has a solid season and gets a real nice multi-year deal somewhere else next year where he will be used in a similar way that his Daddy Danny Woodhead has been used over the years! Get him cheap now! Ok seriously, what stands out? I have one team bidding on Lynch…… that was a mistake.

Landing spots for Blake Bortles would potentially place him in Tennessee or Miami, two playoff contenders. Where do you think he would fit best between these two teams?

Jason needs to add Bortles in my opinion. Dak could struggle and if he does Bortles is at the very least a player you can start when you know his team will be blown out. A little insurance for the 2nd-year Cowboy makes too much sense.

For as much love Crowell has received in the off-season by FF pundits, do you really believe only three teams target him in the AFC?

No, my predictions were based on listing players I felt teams actually had a chance to sign. I think every single team in the AFC should bid on Crowell, but think he will be priced to high for most of the AFC.

Do you think New England is the only team to go after Perriman and K. White? If he lands both, what do you think those signings does for the franchise?

No, this goes back to my last answer. I think people will bid on these guys, but with Marks cap, I just think these guys fit what he is going for and he will get them. I don’t see their price going through the roof, but even 3mil is too much for some of the GM’s to spend on guys who may not make an impact this year.

On the offensive side, which players do you believe will be involved in the most bidding wars?

Crowell will get the most bids most likely, as he should. I think Lynch will be up there too, and I apologize for not including him on more teams predictions, I missed him for some reason.

Quickly glancing at the two tables, defense looks to have a bit more activity than offense. Do you think it will be a defense-led auction?

Yes, I think the players will be reasonably priced minus maybe Reshad. I also noticed way more holes on defense when I was going through each team. I think there will be plenty of players signed on offense, but a lot of teams need to work on their defense.

My guess for the most coveted players would be Melvin Ingram (as he recently became a DE), Vince Williams, and Eric Reid. Who would you go with?

I think Ingram absolutely. Very thin pool for DE’s, I think he gets a ton of interest. Now, going back to what I said earlier, by predictions were mostly based on players I thought teams had a chance to sign. Vince Williams is on most of these predictions based on the thought he might be cheaper than some of the big name guys. I think I may cause these players to get paid a little more than expected. Same with Reid, I think there are better Safeties available, and they should have more interest, but Reshad probably ends up in the price range for more teams than Reshad does.

The Texans have been all over the country, dealing players left and right. They must be setting themselves up for a few players in this auction. Who do you believe they make a strong push for? Do you think the trades work out for them in the end?

Ok…. I will get demolished for this….. But listen….. In this format, I think there’s a decent chance Eric Ebron can outscore ARob this year. There I said it. The second trade was not terrible for me. He got a high upside TE in a TE premium league and a starting MLB. If ARob doesn’t look like he did 2 years ago, then I think this trade looks a lot different next year. But the first one kills it. It was silly! I don’t agree with moving Evans when your team is setup to be a contender with a couple additions. I don’t see Diggs coming within 60 points of Evans and that’s on Diggs best year. I believe Peru needs to come away with Crowell/Reshad if he wants to make up for the loss of Evans. However, he would have been better off keeping Evans and going hard on Reshad/Church.

On the defensive side, which players do you believe will be involved in the most bidding wars?

Ingram, Wake, Derrick Johnson, Reshad Jones and Barry Church.

Final Q – Who do you think will be the highest paid offensive and defensive players from this auction?

Marshawn Lynch and Reshad Jones. As it should be.
