IBL Power Rankings 2017/18 – Eastern Conference

Today is the turn of the Eastern conference and their Power Rankings/Waiver Wire order.

Shayne has taken a look at the balance of power in the East…

  1. DETROIT PISTONS

PG Lonzo Ball

SG Stephen Curry

G Avery Bradley

SF Wesley Matthews

PF Demarre Carroll

C Gorgui Dieng

F/C Trevor Ariza

Detroit is in a re-build and they have good Guards in Ball, Bradley, and Curry, but that will not take them far. All the rest of their starters are role players so they won’t produce much. They don’t’ have their pick so not much tanking can go on. Maybe they can make some more moves later in the season.

  1. WASHINGTON WIZARDS

PG Reggie Jackson

SG Devin Booker

G Milos Teodosic

SF Stanley Johnson

PF Thaddeus Young

C Demarcus Cousins

F/C John Collins

The Wizards have Booker and Cousins and that’s it. John Collins and Milos may be sneaky plays but everyone else are role players. Maybe they can move some guys for picks like Jackson or Thad but I don’t see this team making the playoffs this year.

 

  1. ATLANTA HAWKS

SF Dario Saric

PF Marvin Williams

C Deandre Jordan

F/C Julius Randle

The Hawks have the reigning MVP Russell Westbrook along with Dragic and Deandre. KCP is somewhat overrated to me, but I know people love him going to the Lakers. I don’t see him doing much as well as Randle. “The Homie” Dario Saric can produce given the playing time, but will all depend on how the team plays him. This team could sneak into the playoffs thanks to Westbrook.

  1. INDIANA PACERS

G Khris Middleton

SF Josh Jackson (Jabari Parker)

PF Tobias Harris

C Hassan Whiteside

F/C Wilson Chandler

Indiana Pacers have a Trio of Middleton, Lowry, and Whiteside who will give them enough points to compete for the playoffs potentially. Chandler, Harris, Jackson, and Murray will be up and down this year as their production isn’t consistent and if Jabari was healthy I think this team would be a playoff team easily.

  1. MILWAUKEE BUCKS

PG Kyrie Irving

SG Buddy Hield

G Kemba Walker

SF Evan Fournier

PF Jae Crowder

C Nikola Vucevic

F/C Andrew Wiggins

The Bucks got a blessing when Kyrie was traded making him the Center of the team now. Along with Vuc, Buddy, Wiggins, and Kemba are a nice core that will push teams every week. If they can improve at SF or PF this team can make a run to the 2nd round of the playoffs I think.

 

  1. MIAMI HEAT

SF Paul George

PF Aaron Gordon

C Rudy Gobert

F/C Robert Covington

The Miami Heat have a lot of guys whose values dropped in Butler, George, Covington. Rudy Gobert, CJ Butler and George are a solid team that I might have dropped them too low, but I can see them between 5-8 if they can get the same value as last year. Gordon had a good preseason so that would be a nice help for this team as well.

 

9.BROOKLYN NETS

SF Otto Porter

PF Danilo Gallinari

C KAT

F/C Clint Capela

The Nets season all relies on the health of Gallinari, Holiday, and Hill, if they can stay healthy they will be a playoff team. You already know what you are getting in KAT and Hayward should stay about the same in Fantasy Points. Capela may be catching lobs now so his scoring could go up. Look for this team to maybe make an upset in the playoffs if injuries aren’t a facor.

  1. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

PG D’Angelo Russell

SG Donovan Mitchell

G Ben Simmons

SF Greek Freak

PF Marquese Chriss

C Willie Cauley-Stein

F/C Brook Lopez

The 76ers have Giannis Russell and Simmons as a solid young core. Brook Lopez could still put up good numbers if the Lakers use him correctly. Donovan Mitchell looks like he could be 6th man of the year maybe and Cauley-Stein starting now gives this team a good 6 man rotation. Not a fan of Chriss but maybe he will improve this year.

  1. NEW YORK KNICKS

PG Eric Bledsoe

SG Dwayne Wade (Isiah Thomas)

G Klay Thompson

SF Carmelo Anthony

PF Rudy Gay

C Serge Ibaka

F/C Pau Gasol

The Knicks will be without IT for a while but Wade should fill his shoes for the meantime. Carmelo, Bledsoe, Rudy all have injury issues but will be consistent scorers fantasy wise along with Serge Ibaka. Klay and Gasol are too inconsistent, but the other guys should be able to pick up their slack.

  1. CHARLOTTE HORNETS

PG Derrick Rose

SG Brandon Ingram

G Marcus Smart

SF Lebron James

PF Kristpas Prozingis

C Joel Embiid

F/C Dewayne Dedmon

Hornets have Lebron, Porzingis, Embiid and Ingram as their Big 4. Dedmon looks like he may start for his team. Smart and Rose will be good starters/6th men, but as long as the Big 4 stay healthy this team should make the playoffs easily. I don’t know how far they will go knowing Lebron likes to rest during the end of the season.

  1. BOSTON CELTICS

G Bradley Beal

SF Jayson Tatum

PF Anthony Davis

C Al Horford

F/C Jusuf Nurkic

The Celtics have a lot of potential in Hood, Davis, Jurkic, Beal, and Horford. If they can get some solid production from Collison and just find someone to play SF this team could be scary for the Top 4. Davis had his 1st healthy season and looks to carry that into this year along with Hood being the go to guy now. The Celtics can make a run to the Conference Championships.

  1. ORLANDO MAGIC

PG Elfrid Payton

SG Victor Oladipo

G Dennis Schroder

SF Kawhi Leonard

PF Nikola Jokic

C Myles Turner

F/C Markieff Morris

Orlando Magic have all young guys playing at the top of their games toward the end of last season. Payton, Turner, Leonard, Schroder, Jokic, and Oladipo are all projected to exceed last year’s Fantasy Points totals and if they do, this team will be in contention to make the Championship. Leonard gets rested a lot though so he may cost this team.

  1. CHICAGO BULLS

G Jeremy Lin

SF Harrison Barnes

PF Draymond Green

C Andre Drummond

F/C Paul Milsap

This team has at least 5 guys who can put up over 40 Fantasy Points a night which makes this team a well-rounded team until next year’s scoring corrections get updated. If they can fill in another G to replace Lin as an upgrade this would be the #2 team in the East. Also Barnes needs to step up and add some stats to his game.  The Bulls will make a run at #1 this year.

  1. TORONTO RAPTORS

SF Kevin Durant

PF Dwight Howard

C Lamarcus Aldridge

F/C Enes Kanter

The Toronto Raptors made some BIG TRADES acquiring Wall and Lillard and adding KD in free agency makes this team a huge contender. Aldridge, Howard, and Waiters should put up solid numbers then Kanter is the unknown as the Knicks are rebuilding. I like this team and they will probably continue to add better talent along the way. The Cavs should watch out for this team.

  1. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

PF Kevin Love

C Marc Gasol

F/C Blake Griffin

Finally the favorites to win the East, the Cleveland Cavaliers. A new owner came in and made some moves getting Conley and Griffin to add along with Harden, Paul, and Love. This team is the most well-balanced team in the league behind the Warriors I think. The SF position is kind of iffy but I am sure this manager will look to improve on this spot and add to his title contending team.
