What the hell happened in week 1 of the NFL. So many top players completely shit the bed. I guess this is what happens when you don’t play your starters in the preseason. No matter how hard you research and work at our rosters, we all realize that maybe we aren’t as smart as we think. As bad as it was, there can be only one Shit for Brains for week 1. In all of my episodes of Shit For Brains, this is the first week where I discuss someone’s decision making even though it had no bearing on the utter ass kicking that he felt last weekend.

This was one of the most lopsided scores that the IFL has seen in a long time. Only two games were decided by 10 points or less, the Bills vs the Lions and the Vikings vs the Dolphins.
Game #1: Buffalo Travis 331.3 pts defeated Detroit Nate 324.6 points. The margin of victory was 6.7 points. This was the closest match of the week. Was there anything that our buddy from the great white north could have done to win?

Nate did choose the wrong players when he set his lineup. If he would have played Joshua Kelley RB who scored 23.5 points or Kyren Williams who scored 26.65 points he would have won. However, nobody in their right mind would have selected either one of these guys. While nobody has ever accused Nate of being a genious, his brain is in tact and he does not have Shit For Brains.

The second game that I want to look at is Minnesota Wade who scored 269.55 points and Miami Brad who scored 260.49 points. The difference in the game was 9.06 points. Could Brad have done anything different to win the game?

Christian Watson was declared out of the game well in advance of the kickoff. The Packers had to throw to somebody. Romeo Dobbs was the talk of preseason being Jordan Love’s favorite target. What does Brad do, he started David Njoku. Did this daring decision pay off? Nope! Njoku scored a whopping 6.62 points. Romeo Dobbs scored 20.10 points. If Brad started Dobbs he would have won. If I asked the entire league would you start Dobbs over Njoku, I would guess that 2/3’s would have started Dobbs. If I was going by my traditional rules, Brad should have been the Shit for Brains for the week. However, once in a while, someone is so stupid that they deserve the prize.
This past week, New England Mark defeated Chicago Nic by over 80 points. Normally, I wouldn’t even pay attention to this, but a little birdie pointed something out to me. Mark Andrews was declared out for the game. All of the fantasy experts were suggesting that Isaiah Likely was a no brainer for a DFS lineup. Apparently our loveable colleague with the Fred Flintstone brain took it to heart. Nic decided to start Isaiah Likely over Jaylon Waddle. Please keep in mind that the Dolphins/Chargers game had the highest total on the board and it was going to be a shootout. Why the heck would you start Isaiah Likely (undrafted TE) over a top 12 WR in a shootout? Likely rewarded Nic with 2.02 points. While Waddle fell short of 20 points, you always start the stud. For this reason, Nic is Shit For Brains for Week 1.
