With no, Super Bowl rings to show, it’s a damn shame they haven’t been able to even sneak a Super Bowl appearance with the 3 B’s. Roethlisberger is getting up there in age and has expressed interest in life after football, but with Antonio Brown in his prime and Le’Veon Bell coming back for at least one more season, it’s safe to fire up Roethlisberger as your QB1. Cam Newton and his flashy ways have produced an up and down career. Some years he’s by far the best fantasy QB and others he’s barely startable. Heading into 2018, Newton is equipped with a new offensive coordinator, Norv Turner, who has traditionally worked with pocket passers. Turner will be working with one of the most unique skill sets in the NFL and has stated he won’t restrict Newton to just a pocket passer. Newton is getting up there in age, and it will be interesting to see how his body will hold up in his 30s. IFL, its that’ time of year again where we fill the 2nd annual Survivor Series Match. Last year it focused on Bottom Feeders, but this year it is open to the entire league as space provides. In 2018 we will look to field two teams of 6 which would run a maximum of 11 weeks should eliminations play out evenly.
The 2017 MVP before he tore his ACL and Big Dick Foles had to carry the Eagles to their first Super Bowl, Wentz is gearing up for another elite season. Wentz came into his own in year two, with an offense catered to his strengths, and plus offensive pieces surrounding him. Nothing major has changed except the OC is out of town, but that shouldn’t affect production as Doug Peterson was calling the plays anyway. I still can’t believe Jared Goff’s turnaround after the disastrous rookie year. I was thoroughly convinced that he would flame out, especially when he didn’t know what direction to watch a sunset. McVay came in and revolutionized the Rams offense, turning their 32nd ranked offense into the 1st ranked offense in the NFL! Goff is a short-intermediate passer who excels with simple plays. His third year will show his progression as McVay introduces more to the offense. Will Goof succeed? Very possible, but I still have my doubts about if he has a cerebral mind. Andrew Luck was on a trajectory to be a Hall of Fame quarterback. Now, that is not quite the certainty it was a couple of years ago, but people seem to forget Luck was a yearly top 5 QB. Now finally on track to come back from his shoulder issue, Luck should return to his dominant ways. A couple things working against him is the AFC South is much better than it was two years ago, with the Texans, Titans and Jags all having a chance to win the division. Luck’s weapons also seem to lack the upside they did a couple years ago and could use another stud sans TY Hilton. The GOAT is back for another season and he has his usual cast of weapons at his disposal. Yes, Edelman is out the first four games, but at least he doesn’t have a torn ACL. Gronk, Hogan, and Michel make a fine group of weapons that will continue to ease Brady into his ripe age of 40. This may be the final year we see the peak Patriots, so soak it in while we can. This is one of the best and longest standing dynasties in the history of sports. Something we can tell our grandkids about. Brady is at the center of it all. There isn’t a more matchup proof option than Rodgers and is widely regarded as the best quarterback in the NFL today. It’s a shame the Packers haven’t been able to build a better roster around him, as they have only brought in one Super Bowl during his tenure. Now 33, Rodgers is past the halfway point in his career, but there are many great years ahead. No one I would rather have in fantasy, Decker is set for years at QB with Rodgers and Deshaun Watson or could (should) sell one for another STUD offensive piece. Alex Smith balled out last year transforming his game after being pushed by Kansas City when they traded up, for now, replacement Patrick Mahomes. Traded early in the offseason to Washington, Smith will look to continue his hyper-efficient and now deep throwing ways. An over 30 PPG production again is extremely unlikely, but I like him to continue his top 10 production with his rushing bonus cooked in. Smith is in the prime age for quarterbacks to be at their best and if Washington’s receiving weapons can take a step forward, the Redskins could be a very good team.
