Now that the season is over, and we all wait for trading to open up, what the hell is one in the IFL to do? Yes we could listen to Clown Coverage cover up their Trey Sermon hype, watch guys get rectally wrecked by Vic in IFL Hot Ones, or even wonder if how many fruitful years Craig has before he begins hit early onset dementia.
Well have no fear IFL’ers because the Hitman has got you with a new yearly feature to the IFL off-season, The IFL Hall of Fame!
But what is the IFL Hall of Fame you ask? Well rest your sexy little mind and grab a drink as we go through it…
This Ain’t about GMs
GM’s around the IFL already get too much love in my opinion (with the exception of Josh) and we forget about those rostered names that make us all look good. Hell Dan and I sucked this year but we had JT. Ask Brian and Jason they will tell you! No my friends this is all about the players.
Just like the actual Hall of Fame I am proposing that we make one for the IFL and we can even have our graphic design savants create a tab on MFL with some bronze busts of whoever we elect. I haven’t cleared that with Brad yet but who the fuck cares, I’m the champ and what I say goes! Welcome to 2022 bitches!
Who is eligible?
Great question bold face heading. Well the Hitman has done the due diligence already and tried to narrow it down to the following factors so that we can have a list that rivals the NFL.
- The player must be retired for at least 2 years.
(This means that the last season they could have played for the 2021 induction class is 2018.) - The player must have played at least 1 season in the IFL.
- The player must have ranked in the IFL’s top 500 scorers at least 1 season that they played.
This is a fairly all encompassing list to cut out the majority of the bullshit players that retired.
What’s the Voting Process?
Here’s a bulleted list!
- All players meeting the three criteria will be nominated to the semi-final pool.
- Of players nominated we will have a vote to select the Top 10 players for the year’s final ballot.
- Once we have a top 10 we will vote again. In this vote, all players that receive over 80% of the leagues votes (26/32) will be inducted to the Hall of Fame.
What if a player doesn’t get inducted?
Let’s use more bullets!
- Any player not voted into the Top 10 will be added to the semi-final pool for the following year.
- Any player voted into the Top 10 for the year, but not inducted to the Hall of Fame will automatically be added to the next year’s final ballot along with the 10 new finalists.
- If a player does not get inducted for two consecutive years, they are eliminated from eligibility to be an IFL Hall of Famer.
Are Punters and Kickers Included?
Of course they are! Unlike what you hear from the NFL analysts, here in the IFL they are people too!
How about Coaches?
Coaches will not be included due to the constant changing nature of the job. Is a coach that is fired eligible after two years? How about if they are still in the game but an OC? How about if they left the NFL and went back to college, or if they got caught dancing with a girl in a bar when their team flew back to Florida?
There are too many questions to answer, so fuck ’em!
Now what?
Well now the Hitman is searching for a show to showcase the initial drop of players and stats. All of that will be included in a paper base format for review, but a semi-final show seems like something that must happen.
Remember that we are looking only at their IFL stats, not what they did prior to being rostered by us. That includes Mordor seasons!

- 2021-2022 Hall of Fame Semi-Final Pool consists of 28 eligible players
- There are 2 IFL Super Bowl Champions in the pool (both starters)
- 10 eligible players finished at least 1 year in the top 10 of their position
- 3 eligible players finished in the top 10 of their position twice
- 1 player has a career positional rank of #3
- The highest non-QB career ppg is just over 22
